The elevator pinged and we stepped inside. Mr. Drake’s face was unreadable. “What are you thinking, Isabeau?”
The receipts I’d be staring at while I was shackled tugged at the edge of my mind.
“Does Lex own a yacht, by chance?”
Mr. Drake ran a hand over his face. “Shit. He does, but I don’t know where he keeps it. I’ve never been on it.”
“He’s been spending a lot of time at the Morton’s Pier Yacht Club. There are several receipts for cocktails and dinners there just from the last month.”
Mr. Drake’s face broke into a grin that lit up the elevator. “Isabeau... you never cease to amaze me. I could kiss you right now.”
“Only if you can manage it before we get to the garage!” We’d be in cell range then, with no more time to waste, even for something as sweet as that.
He crushed me to him, kissing me hard and deep, pouring out his thanks in a way that made my heart feel like it was going to pound out of my chest.
The elevator doors slid open, and we broke apart.
“Let’s go,” he said. “I just pray we get to him in time.”
