Killer (The Skulls #5) Page 32
Author: Sam Crescent

“Who else knows about Kelsey?” He’d put this man on the door because of his f**king discretion. Everyone knew he was married, but no one actually knew who he was married to. Some of the women he f**ked over the years and been seen with had turned up dead. He wasn’t going to risk Kelsey’s life.

“I informed the whole team, sir.”

“What?”

“The whole security team is aware of her disappearance and is doing everything they can to bring her back.”

Michael had never wanted to kill anyone at all in his whole life until that one moment.

“Are you f**king insane?” He caught the other man by the shirt, slamming him against the wall. “If anyone finds out where Kelsey went she’ll be f**king dead. They’ve been plotting and scheming for years to bring me down after my father gave me this f**k up of a business. Do you really think she’s safe with every f**ker looking for her?”

He’d rather her run away and never return than risk the kind of life his enemies would seek for her.

If I ever get the chance, I’m going to kill you, Father, over and over again.

A knock at the door sounded. Pulling away from the other man, Michael turned to face the head security. The man had a broken nose and looked particularly weary.

The news of Killer’s involvement didn’t surprise him. All Michael hoped for was he got to them before his enemies did.

Chapter Ten

Steven stopped the car about two hours from picking them up at the hospital. Killer shook hands with the other man before picking Kelsey up from the backseat. She’d been sleeping for the last hour, and he couldn’t bring himself to wake her up. Zero was sitting in another car further up the road waiting to take them to their destination.

“What’s happening?” Kelsey asked, waking up in his arms.

Zero climbed out, opening the passenger door. He eased her inside.

“Go back to sleep, baby. We’ll be there soon enough.”

“This is all very covert,” Zero said, getting back behind the wheel.

“We know too much. She’s in danger if she goes with him.” Killer settled into the front passenger seat. He turned to watch his woman sleep peacefully.

“This is still f**king dangerous. You’re going away without any of The Skulls surrounding you. How do you think you’re going to fare any better?”

Rubbing a hand down his face, Killer was so f**king tired from all the fighting. When they got to the place Alex set up for him, he was going to sleep for a whole week.

“One raid on the clubhouse will see Kelsey in his hands. We can’t hide her in the same town as The Skulls. This is the only way.”

“I think you should have gotten in touch with Devil. He’d have taken you in.”

Devil was the leader of Chaos Bleeds who’d settled in a town quite away from Fort Wills known as Piston County. Devil was close with Tiny and hadn’t made it up to Fort Wills recently.

“I don’t want her surrounded by another club. They’ve got their own business to deal with. I’m tired of them being part of ours,” he said. He also didn’t want any of the other men looking at his woman. The Chaos Bleeds crew was dangerous, far more dangerous than The Skulls. They followed their own set of rules that didn’t always go with the Skulls’ own.

“You’re just jealous in case one of them catches Kelsey’s eye,” Zero said, laughing.

“How can you laugh at a time like this?”

“Stop being a pu**y, Killer. We’re on the road, and you’ve got to learn to lighten up. If you’re constantly growling at people you’re going to stick out like a sore thumb. You’re no longer a Skull now. You’re Theodore Smith, mechanic and living with your wife.”

Glancing back to Kelsey, Killer felt his whole body relax at the sight of her. He’d do whatever it took to keep her safe by his side.

“Why don’t you come with me?” Killer asked.

“Why would I do that?”

“Get away from Sophia, clear your head. Get your shit together.”

Zero kept his gaze on the road ahead. “I might drop by, but I’m not staying around. Alex is going to meet us with everything you need.”

For the next hour they drove in silence, neither of them needing to talk. Being part of a club they were more than used to dealing with late nights.

“Alex is up ahead.”

Killer tensed up seeing two cars right up ahead. When Zero stopped the car, he climbed out, reaching in to shake Zero’s hand. “Take care, man,” Killer said.

“Keep safe, and remember, stay in touch.”

He picked Kelsey up. She woke up as he was resting her in the other car.

“Shh, I’m going to talk everything through with Alex. Stay here.” He closed the door turning to Alex.

“This is a high risk, you know that right?”

“Yeah, I know. I’ve got to protect my woman.”

“Okay. Here are your passports and new identities. You’re a married couple and are settling down in a quaint little town. You can’t wear your leather cut,” Alex said, warning him.

“I left it back at the club. This is all I’ve got,” Killer said.

“Right.” Alex popped the trunk of the car. “Here are your cases. The house is fully furnished, and here are the keys. I’ve talked with the local man who owns the mechanic shop, and he’s more than happy to have you around to take some of the workload off him.”

Staring at the bags, Killer nodded. “You thought of everything.”

“Got no choice. Here, take these and be careful. You get any trouble, don’t hesitate to give us a call.”

Shaking hands with Alex, Killer left him alone to climb behind the wheel.

“What’s going on?” Kelsey asked.

“I’ll tell you everything when we get there.”

She stayed silent. Killer needed to think, and the only way to do that was on the road.

“Climb into the front,” he said, slowing the car down. He could bear silence no longer.

Kelsey got into the front, doing her seatbelt up before glancing at him. He took hold of her hand, squeezing her.

“Don’t worry about a thing. We’re going to get through this together.” He pulled away managing the roads.

“Where are we going?” she asked.

“Paradise Rocks. It’s a small town. We’ve got a few members of The Skulls who live here. They’re not fully fledged members, but they’re a distant part of the club.” Killer checked the address and entered the small town. The town center had a variety of shops including a diner, mechanic shop, and a small shopping mall along the end of the road. He spotted a sex shop along with many different shops. Exiting the town, he navigated the roads coming to a stop at a small home at the end of a long street. The house didn’t stand out at all. In fact it looked like the twenty other houses along the strip of the road. He spotted the light on in the front window.
