“I’m telling you it’s the size of a tarantula. I saw it coming out of the bathroom. Please kill it for me.” Judi let the words run out.

“A spider, I’m here to kill a spider.”

Lexie screamed, diving onto the bed. “Spiders, I hate spiders. Devil!” She shouted his name in desperation.

Great thinking, Judi.

Seconds later Devil was running into the room carrying a baby spoon. “What? What the f**k is it?”

“A spider. Judi saw a spider.”

The two women held each other. Glancing at Ripper, she saw him roll his eyes.

She did her best not to respond. How else was she going to explain Ripper being in her room?

“What the f**k you doing in her room?” Devil asked.

“Looking for a spider apparently. Your girl is a f**king wimp.” Ripper looked around the floor.

Now the problem was actually finding a spider for him to kill.

“Are you sure you saw anything?” Devil asked.

“Please, don’t let a spider be walking around the house, Devil. I’m in a delicate condition.” Lexie rubbed her stomach.

Judi noticed the color was back in her cheeks. “Did you have fun?” she asked.

“Yeah, we couldn’t stay though. The smells of breakfast were too much. Some people actually ordered fish,” Lexie said, shuddering.

Devil started laughing. “She insulted the whole spa by throwing up over the table. Lex demanded I leave and cut our trip short.”

Laughing, Judi glanced over at Ripper. In the next couple of minutes he pretended to catch the spider and throw it out.

Lexie finally left the bed with Devil’s arms wrapped around her.

“A spider?” Ripper asked, kissing the top of her head when they were alone.

“I panicked.”

Everyone was afraid of spiders, even her. She was more afraid of what Devil would do the moment he realized she was f**king Ripper.

Later that day Devil sat behind his desk at his home thinking about what Tiny had just said. Zero had told the club everything. Alan hadn’t struck yet apart from the nurse, but his friend knew it was only a matter of time before Alan hit out again. Lexie stood by the doorframe, folding her arms over her chest.

“What are you thinking?” she asked.

“I’ve got a feeling shit is going to hit the fan,” he said. He never kept anything from her. She gave him everything, and in return he told her the truth.

He watched her walk toward him. She leaned against the desk staring down at him. Reaching out, he pulled her close, kissing her stomach. After the last few weeks of arguing she’d finally convinced him there was nothing wrong but morning sickness.

Her fingers sank into his hair.

“What has actually happened?”

“One of Zero’s friends turned up at the clubhouse with a bullet wound to her stomach. She’s fine, but this guy is causing a lot of trouble. He’s taken out a nurse that f**ked Zero, and they’re on lockdown. Tiny is keeping me updated, but none of the others know. He’s worried,” Devil said, kissing her stomach. “Zero did something in his past, and he f**ked up. He’s paying the price for his mistake.”

“Is this like Snitch?”

He shook his head. “No, he wanted vengeance. This is a death sentence for Zero. Someone wants him dead, but they want him to suffer first. I’ve got a feeling this is going to end up a nightmare for The Skulls.”

Devil loved the feel of her fingers in his hair, holding onto him.

“Will you go if they ask for help?”

“I’ve got to, baby. Tiny is a friend.” She smiled, but he saw the fear in her eyes. Cupping her cheek, he stood up staring down into her eyes. “You’re my entire f**king world. I will never do anything that will put us at risk.”

“I know the club means so much to you.”

“Hey.” He held onto her face stopping her from looking away. “The club is my life, but you’re my reason for f**king living. I love you, baby. I’m not going anywhere.” Devil kissed her lips. “If I know it’s a death mission, me and the boys will bail. It’s not my fight, and you and my boys come first.”

Devil wouldn’t do anything to hurt her. He wanted to see his baby born and spend the rest of his years growing old with his woman.

Holding her close he thought about Ripper this morning. The way the other man had looked at Judi had Devil’s gut tightening.

Something was going on between the couple. He didn’t know what it was. Devil only hoped Ripper had his head on straight. Judi was off limits, and he wasn’t going to budge on this.

Chapter Ten

The following week Ripper was doing everything to avoid being alone with Devil. The biggest mistake he could make was thinking Devil didn’t see everything. There was a reason he was named after the ruler of hell. Their president saw everything. Shit, he was making himself feel nervous.

Looking over his bike he started to make sure there were no faults. Devil was inside the clubhouse going over the books that Vincent brought with him from the strip club. The strip club was doing better business than the mechanic shop. Some of the rich folk didn’t like bikers working on their expensive cars.

Ripper didn’t care. He loved working with his hands at every opportunity.

Once he was sure his bike was in the best condition he started to give it a clean, working over the body of the machine. Sweat dotted his back, and it was taking all of his strength not to text Judi. The last time they’d been together was three days ago when he convinced her to go for a ride with him late at night. She was staying around, studying for the most part.

He couldn’t keep stopping by the house as otherwise Devil would think he had a thing for Lexie. In the last couple of weeks he’d come to see it had nothing to do with Lexie. All he’d wanted from her was a f**k. She was a sweet woman, sexy as hell and one fine dancer. Most guys would want to f**k her.

She was taken, and his thoughts were dominated by Judi.

Curse stood over him causing a shadow. The other man was one of his closest friends. “Ashley told me to send you out a coffee,” he said, holding a cup.

“Are you a waitress now?” Ripper asked, standing up.

“She was bouncing on my dick ten minutes ago. I need the break.”

“I’m surprised you’re not at the diner in town lusting after sweet, dark-haired Mia.” Ripper teased his friend. They had both been to the diner, and each time Curse barely said a word to the waitress even though he couldn’t tear his eyes away from her.
