Holidays with the Walker Brothers (Alluring Indulgence #4) Page 41
Author: Nicole Edwards

The connection he couldn’t seem to make with Jessie was there for them. He could see it clear as day right there before his eyes.

These two needed each other.

Jessie’s muffled scream as her body stilled, her orgasm tearing through her, had Brendon gritting his teeth. The delicious tightening of her pussy around his cock milked his release from him and not long after, Braydon was right there with them.

Drenched in sweat, Brendon relaxed into the couch, Jessie’s weight against him was a comfort he wasn’t willing to let go of. Then there was movement, and Brendon watched as Braydon grabbed his clothes and left the room without a word.

When he felt Jessie’s eyes on him, he couldn’t look at her.

Hell, he wasn’t sure he’d ever be able to look at himself again. There were so many thoughts running through his head at the moment, but the one question that stood out…

How was it that he never realized his twin didn’t need the same thing he did?

Chapter Sixteen

♂♀

Curtis

Christmas Eve

“Good morning,” Curtis greeted Lorrie with a brief kiss as he passed her in the kitchen.

“Good morning,” she answered cheerfully.

“What time did you get up?”

“Early. Really early.”

“Well, I knew that. I wouldn’t have stayed in bed so long if I had known you weren’t coming back.”

Lorrie moved up against him, putting her arms up and around his neck. Being that she wasn’t all that tall, Curtis had to bend over to look at her. Her blue eyes sparkled, and the proof of her laughter evident in the thin lines around them. She was still just as beautiful as the day he met her, all those years ago.

“I was trying to let you sleep,” she explained. “I wanted to make sure we had enough food for today.”

“For today?” Curtis knew that they would have Christmas dinner tomorrow with the boys and their families, but as for Christmas Eve, he hadn’t even realized they had plans. “What’s happening today?”

Lorrie swatted him on the chest and then moved toward the oven, pulling the door down and retrieving a pan full of chocolate chip cookies. Without asking, he snuck up behind her and stole one right off of the pan.

“Watch it. Those are for the kids.”

“The kids can make their own chocolate chip cookies.” Hell, they should anyway. They were all old enough to live on their own, work on their own and definitely bake on their own. “You didn’t answer my question.”

“I invited Ethan, Sawyer and Beau over for the afternoon. All three of them seemed a little lonely and I wanted to do something special for them.”

Oddly enough, asking Lorrie about her inviting Beau wasn’t the most pressing question on his mind. Beau was as much family as anyone else, having spent the majority of his childhood hanging out with Zane, which made him a regular fixture in the Walker household. But, Curtis wouldn’t lie, he smelled a setup.

“Like what?” Curtis couldn’t hide the fact that he was skeptical. It was one thing for Lorrie to invite all of the boys, or maybe one at a time, but this. Something was fishy about this.

“We’ll have lunch, then I thought they could help me with a couple of things.”

Ok, so now he had no doubt that the woman was up to something.

“I’d like them to help me move a couple of things around upstairs.”

“What needs to be moved?” Curtis knew he hadn’t been asked to move any furniture because his wife wouldn’t have let up on him if she had. Even though recent events had them possibly preparing to have a guest live in one of the upstairs rooms, Curtis found it difficult to believe that furniture would have to be arranged just to accommodate him.

“I wanted to change out the dresser in Ethan’s old room with the one from Zane’s.”

Ok, so now Curtis was definitely suspicious. The woman was meticulous about the furniture upstairs, even though they rarely had a guest who used any of it. She dusted and vacuumed weekly and took care of the bathroom just as often. So why would she want to change the furniture? And the dressers of all things.

“Don’t worry about it, dear,” Lorrie said sweetly, her hand coming up to rest on his cheek. “I promise, I know what I’m doing.”

Once again, there was a flicker of mischief in her glittering blue eyes.

Curtis nodded, not truly understanding, but knowing that it wouldn’t matter what he said. He didn’t question her judgment, he only hoped that Beau and Ethan knew what they were getting themselves into. Because if Curtis knew anything at all, Sawyer wasn’t anywhere on the matchmaking radar at the moment.
