Captivated (Club Destiny #4.5) Page 20
Author: Nicole Edwards

“God, yes, baby,” he groaned, slowing his pace as he slipped one hand between them, finding her clit with his fingers. “You feel so damn good.”

As he began strumming her clit gently, Lucie’s moans intensified until she was clawing his shoulders, her hips bucking up off of the mattress.

“Are you going to come for me?” he asked, sinking deeper and deeper into her with every thrust, increasing the pressure of his finger against her clit with every jarring movement. “Tell me, Lucie. Tell me when you come.”

Kane barely managed to control himself; continuing to pound harder, faster until he was sweating and shaking with the strength of his release as it rushed up on him without warning. Slamming into her once, twice, three times, Kane felt the way her inner muscles squeezed his cock, almost painfully tight as Lucie moaned into the darkened room, her sharp little nails digging into his skin as she stilled.

As she came apart beneath him, Kane followed her over into the glorious abyss.

There was something to be said about angry sex, Lucie thought to herself as she lay against Kane, her head propped on his chest as his heartbeat thumped slowly in her ear. He was so warm, so strong as he held her close, his finger drawing circles up and down her spine.

It was still dark outside, but Lucie knew that was only going to last a little while longer. Dawn wasn’t far off, and despite the fact that she wanted him there more than she wanted anything else, Lucie knew it wouldn’t be appropriate for Haley to find him in her bed. They probably had another hour at best before her early riser was up and at it.

“Why didn’t you tell me?” Kane asked, his gravelly voice penetrating the darkness.

Lucie’s body stiffened. The question was a long time coming, but for some reason, she hadn’t expected to hear it from him now. Not like this. She knew this wasn’t going to be an easy conversation for them to have, and if nothing else, he was going to be angry with her. All over again.

When she tried to pull away, Kane stopped her by firmly pressing his arm against her back.

“Don’t leave me,” he warned, keeping her pinned in place by his heavy arm. “Talk to me. Don’t pull away from me, Lucie.”

Laying her head back against his chest, Lucie inhaled deeply as she tried to gather her thoughts. When it came to her reasons for not telling Kane he was a father, she knew they probably wouldn’t sound as reasonable once she stated them out loud.

Honestly, she hadn’t meant to hurt anyone, although that’s exactly what had happened. Both Haley and Kane had suffered from her decision, and there were many nights she had lain in bed wishing she could change how she handled the situation. Figuring he deserved to know everything, Lucie started at the beginning.

“I found out I was pregnant when I was three and a half months along,” she began. “I hadn’t felt well for a couple of months, but I figured it was my emotions playing havoc on me.”

“Why?” Kane asked, brushing her hair with his fingertips.

Lucie knew her confession was probably going to push Kane away, but she decided to go for it anyway. “After you and I slept together, my feelings for you only intensified,” she stated and then paused to see if he would react. When he didn’t, she continued, “I think I had been attracted to you all along, but I knew better because you were – are – my boss.”

That was the hardest part of everything. Kane was still her boss.

“The night I drove you home, I had originally done so with good intentions. I didn’t want you to drive drunk,” she admitted, although she had already told him this part. She had just left off the emotional aspect. “When you invited me in, I knew I should’ve said no, but part of me just wanted to be closer to you.”

To her surprise, Kane pulled her closer against him, and when she felt his lips against her head, she had to choke back the tears that threatened to fall.

“Honestly, had I realized you were so drunk that you wouldn’t even remember sleeping with me, I wouldn’t have gone inside.”

“Tell me what happened.”

“I already did.” Lucie had shared the high level details with him already, back when she told him he was Haley’s father.

“You told me that you drove me home and that we slept together. I want to know all of the details.”

Lucie sighed. It wasn’t like she couldn’t recall every single second of that night because she had relived it over and over for the past six years.

“Tell me,” Kane whispered into the darkness.

With another deep sigh, Lucie began explaining, “You invited me inside, and I agreed. Then you offered me a drink, and I refused, hoping you wouldn’t get one either. I knew you were drunk, but I hadn’t realized just how intoxicated you really were.”
